The study, published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, found that one in 10 deaths at a young age could be saved if everyone did at least half the recommended amount of physical activity. A person should engage in 150 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic exercise per week to maintain good physical health.
Brisk walking, cycling, swimming, running are the aerobic exercise. Aerobic exercise provides cardiovascular conditioning. Aerobic exercise helps to improve cardiovascular health. It raises the heart rate and makes us breathe faster.
Why is this necessary?
Heart disease and stroke are the leading causes of death among middle-aged and young adults worldwide. A daily 10 minute brisk walk is necessary to avoid it.
Great study
A large body of data has examined how a brisk 10-minute walk reduces the risk of heart disease and cancer, including heart attacks. The findings were based on an analysis of 196 research articles submitted by 94 studies from over 3 million participants.
Accordingly, 75 minutes of walking, swimming, and running per week reduced the risk of heart disease by 17%. The risk of cancer is reduced by 7%. Some specific cancers such as head and neck, blood and bone marrow, myeloma cancer in blood plasma cells, and esophageal cancer have been found to reduce the risk by 14-26 percent. The risk of other cancers such as lung, liver, endometrial, colon and breast cancer is reduced by 3-11%.
