How to transfer car document in São Paulo in 2023? – News

Since the pandemic, many public services have been facilitated through apps and online solutions. In the case of transferring vehicles, it is no different. Since the beginning of 2021, it is possible to transfer documents in a very simplified way. R7-Autos Carros prepared a step by step for you to know how to do this:

First, know that the vehicle needs to be up to date with all obligations, such as IPVA, licensing and possible fines paid. If there are outstanding debts, you must settle them before starting the transfer process.

It will be necessary to carry out an ECV inspection on the vehicle in a company accredited by the Detran-SP. This inspection is mandatory and must be done to prove that the vehicle is in good condition and in compliance with safety standards.

With these two steps, the third is even more important: you need to have the Carteira Digital de Trânsito (CDT) application. There, users can perform a digital signature that serves as a way to sign the transfer.

Vehicles already registered in the application

The model must have the Vehicle Ownership Transfer Authorization (ATPV-e). This is an electronic document, used to sell models throughout the national territory.

Thus, the vehicle must have this document, so that it is possible to carry out the transfer by digital means. It is already issued when the new CRLV is made. Or it is already present in models that were released from January 2021.

When selling the vehicle, the owner must open the CDT application. In the digital environment, you will fill in the new owner’s data and sign the document digitally.

With that, the new owner will receive a notification. You will then need to enter the CDT application and then inform the CPF and also digitally sign the document. With this digital filling, it will be necessary to print the Authorization for Transfer of Ownership of the Digital Vehicle (ATPV-e) through the Detran.SP portal or through the Poupatempo Digital app and take it to a notary for notarization. On the Detran website, it is possible to follow the transfer process, which must be completed within 30 days after the sale of the vehicle.

In this environment, the amount charged for the transfer will be paid, which in 2023 is R$ 391.03 already with the licensing for the current year. In January, the DETRAN authorized the transfer even with the pending IPVA. It is necessary to be aware that if the vehicle does not have a Mercosur license plate, the owner himself must look for a qualified company to make the exchange. Simply present the updated digital document to request the license plate at DETRAN accredited posts.

And who doesn’t use the app?

In other cases, for those who do not have an application, cars manufactured before 2020 or who are in possession of the old Single Transfer Document (DUT), the procedure must be done the old-fashioned way: sign and fill in the new owner’s data, taking this document to the notary for notarization of signature.

Finally, you will schedule a date and time at the nearest Poupatempo to complete the transfer process with the documentation signed and notarized. You will also present document and proof of residence and also the ECV transfer report.
