Women Action Sustainability InspirACCIN Awards Honor Iranian Women

The awards seek to recognize the work of those people, entities and institutions that have generated a great impact of social and environmental transformation.

The organization Women Action Sustainability (WAS) held the first edition of its InspirACCIN awards on the third anniversary of its constitution and did so with the delivery of a special award to the Iranian women victims of oppression that was collected by the activist Ryma Sheermohammadi.

WAS is an association of women managers whose objective is that sustainability is present in the senior management of companies with female talent and has organized these awards “with the aim of recognizing those people, entities and institutions that have generated a great impact of social and environmental transformation”, as explained in a press release.

During the gala, which had as master of ceremonies the presenter of the Spanish Television program La 1 Here the EarthQuico Taronji, various awards were given, such as the inspirACCIN Award in the Culture and Communication category to Frances Thyssen “for his work in creating a new awareness of sustainability and enhancement of cultural rights, heritage, diversity and creativity as central components of human and sustainable development.”

Emilio Ontiveros posthumously received the award for Sustainable Inspiration Trajectory “for his commitment to promoting sustainability and diversity, including the collaboration of WAS with foundations and universities”

The inspirACCIN Award in the Business and Economy category went to B Lab Spain – B Corp, “for its inclusive, transversal and collaborative nature to build a more sustainable economy for people and our planet”. Meanwhile, the award in the Education and R+D+i category went to the Fundacin COTEC, “for his work in incorporating the ESG approach and the 2030 Agenda in the training of new professionals”. Lastly, the prize in the Territory category was delivered to the Federation of Rural Women’s Associations (FADEMUR) “for their contribution to developing more habitable territories for health, well-being and a better quality of life”.

The winners were selected by a vote of a jury made up of the WAS Advisory Council, made up of Aitor Jauregui, General Director of BlackRock in Spain, Andorra and Portugal; Aurora Díaz-Rato, ambassador, permanent representative of Spain before the UN Office and the OO.II. based in Geneva; Ana Mara Cuervo, director of the Albert Einstein Institute of New York; Antonio López, rector of the University of Santiago de Compostela; Beatriz Corredor, President of Red Eléctrica de España; Carmen Becerril, president of OMEL; and Mara Mendiluce, executive director of the We Mean Business coalition.

The closing of the event was carried out by the president of WAS, Mnica Chao, who returned to congratulate all the winners and thank them for their work in the field of sustainability. In her speech, she highlighted the importance of working together “to create the future we want, with a perspective that allows us to feel safe when it comes to proposing solutions to the challenges we face. Sustainability is beginning to play a relevant role, and We from WAS want to make sure that this role is in its rightful place, which is the first decision level of all organizations”.
