The BJP government of the state is releasing the accused who spread hatred and riots in Karnataka by withdrawing the cases registered against them.
Indian Express (INDANEXPRES) has investigated the cases of withdrawing the case. It said in its report that since coming to power in 2019, the BJP government has been releasing the accused indiscriminately. In October 2022 alone, the objections of the police, law department and prosecution department were rejected for the acquittal of the accused in 34 cases. Among these accused, 113 activists of groups linked to the Sangh Parivar are involved in 16 cases. Hindu Jagran Vedike (HJV), mainly associated with Vishwa Hindu Parishad, also has Bajrang Dal, Shri Ram Sena. The remaining 18 cases are related to protests by farmers and other groups, involving 228 people.
According to The Indian Express, the Home Department issued an order on October 1, 2022, under which the accused were released. He, however, directed the prosecution department to file necessary applications in the concerned courts for recall of 34 cases.
According to documents placed before the state cabinet for approval on September 19, 2022, the state police, prosecution department and law department objected to the withdrawal of each of the 34 cases, saying it was “not worth withdrawing”. are
