March 6 is the European Day of Speech Therapy. On this day we draw attention to the beautiful profession of speech therapy and its passionate practitioners. Throughout Europe there are various campaigns to draw attention to the role of the speech therapist.

Speech therapy does more than you think!

Speech therapy is much broader and more comprehensive than many people know. Speech therapy helps with problems with language, talking, eating and drinking. For example as a result of a cerebral haemorrhage, cerebral infarction, brain tumour, Parkinson(ism), MS, dementia.

Speech therapists also work at Pieter van Foreest, in nursing homes, in geriatric rehabilitation departments, in outpatient rehabilitation and in Pieters Behandel Praktijk. The speech therapist advises and guides the client and important people in his or her environment. The aim of speech therapy is to be able to communicate, eat and/or drink independently as well as possible. This can help the client gain confidence.
