Sania bid farewell to tennis after playing an exhibition match in Hyderabad
Hyderabad:Once again, Sania Mirza picked up the racket on the stage where her journey to success in tennis began. It was for farewell. The legend of Indian tennis bid farewell to the court with an exhibition match at the Lal Bahadur Tennis Stadium in Hyderabad.
Sania participated in the competition with Rohan Bopanna, Bethany Mattek and cricketer Yuvrat Singh, who played together for a long time. Two decades ago, W.T.A. Sania started her career in international tennis by winning the title.
Sania broke down in tears after her emotional speech before the match. But, she said, these were tears of joy and there couldn’t have been a better place to say goodbye. Sania also stated that it was a great thing to be able to play for the country for 20 years. Sania then participated in two mixed doubles matches. With six Grand Slam titles in her career, Sania is the world number one in women’s doubles. The retirement was announced after this year’s Dubai Tennis Championship. Union Sports Minister Kiran Rijuju, former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin and film star Dulquer Salmaan attended the farewell match.
