The Four Seasons luxury hotel chain announced today (Sunday) its intention to open a 149-room resort as part of Saudi Arabia’s “Red Sea Project”.

The oil powerhouse’s megalomaniac project, which is expected to be completed in 2028, is supposed to include hundreds of new hotels and a new airport along the country’s western coast that borders the Red Sea and attract millions of tourists to the region annually.

The “Red Sea Project” is one of the pillars of the “Vision 2030” program, which aims to diversify the economy of Saudi Arabia.

According to a statement from the hotel company, the new resort, which will be located on Shura Island, will include six restaurants, meeting and event spaces, a marine research center, a children’s club and more. Activities at the hotel will include: a spa with a hammam, tennis courts, an 18-hole golf course, three outdoor pools and two private beaches for families and adults only, for dipping in the water or diving to explore the coral reefs.

“As we continue to expand Four Seasons’ presence in the region, our new Red Sea project will be one of our first resorts in the Kingdom, combining the best of seaside excursions with the natural and cultural wonders of Saudi Arabia,” said Bart Carnahan, President of Global Business Development and Portfolio Management of the company “We are proud to be a part of this impressive and visionary Kingdom development and look forward to inviting guests to explore our new resort in such a beautiful destination.”
