Five Peruvian soldiers are missing after being swept away by a river, when they fled this Sunday from a group of protesters anti-government groups in the southern region of Puno (on the border with Bolivia). The deceased soldier was identified as Corporal Franz Canazas Cahuayawhile the disappeared are Corporal Elvis Pari Quizo, Corporal Carlos Quispe Montalico, Corporal Alez Quispe Serrano and soldiers Percy Castillo Pongo and Elías Lupaca Inquilla.

Likewise, five soldiers are hospitalized in the Ilave hospital due to hypothermia, in stable conditions.

On Saturday, some 300 people attacked the police station in the neighboring city of Juli with stones and blunt objects for several hours, and finally the police station was set on fire with Molotov-type cocktails, according to a joint statement from the Defense and Interior ministries.
