Coimbatore: Coimbatore Federation of Industry Executives met Collector Kranthi Kumar yesterday. At that time, they complained about the crisis caused to the industry due to the exodus of foreign workers.

“The exodus of workers should be stopped immediately. Officers and policemen who know Hindi should go to the area where the foreign workers live, talk on the loudspeaker, create awareness and allay the fear,’ they appealed.

To that, ‘Tamil Nadu government and district administration are taking appropriate security arrangements for foreign workers; No need to fear. Bihar Assembly delegation to visit Coimbatore and Tirupur. The workers will be taken to the industrial establishments for their safety,” assured Collector Krantikumar.

Action to avoid fear!

Industry federation coordinator James told reporters:

More than five lakh foreign workers are working in Coimbatore district. Across various industry sectors, 70 percent of workers are expatriates.

There is a crisis in the industry. A fake video is being circulated in Bihar as if they are being attacked in Tamil Nadu and lack security.

The workers are scared because of false information filed in the Bihar Assembly. Bihar Government and Tamil Nadu Government should take action to allay their fears.

It is common practice for foreign workers to go to their hometown and return after a month. Some say they are going for Holi. Thousands left. Leaving out of fear creates a situation of no return.
