Spain is full of older cars with little mobility: they double the presence of the young vehicle -44% of the park versus 22%-, but they do half the kilometers. This is the main conclusion of the report ‘The sustainable post-sale’, presented by Solera. And it is that a vehicle less than 5 years old travels on average more than 20,200 kilometers per year, while those over 15 years old do half that, barely 10,800 kilometers, when the workshops live by making the cars roll.

In fact, the greater mobility of vehicles, especially among young people, partly explains the 9% growth in after-sales billing in 2022, also impacted by inflation in spare parts, which grew in its case by 12%. .

In this way, Solera confirms how the age problem has various implications for the workshop, not only the environmental ones -due to the recent entry into force of the Low Emission Zones-, but also in terms of real mobility, which is of the who live the workshops.

The third implication is insecurity, not in vain there are almost 6 million vehicles that, having to go annually to pass the ITV, do not even appear at the station for inspection.

It is the so-called ITV abstention and it has worsened after the pandemic, to the detriment of the workshops, which stop billing 1,000 million for this reason.
