Chennai: Singapore-based Advantage Strategic Company has submitted arguments in the Chennai High Court that the case filed by senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy is not suitable for trial.

Last year in 2012, Subramanian Swamy made defamatory comments against Singapore-based Advantage Strategic Company regarding the allocation of 2G spectrum spectrum in Singapore court. However, Subramanian Swamy had filed a case in the Madras High Court in 2014, claiming that the case could be continued only in the Indian court and seeking a ban on the company from continuing the case filed in the Singapore court. The Singapore company had filed an appeal against the injunction issued by the single judge hearing the case.

The appeal came up for hearing today in a bench comprising Justices SS Sundar and PP Balaji. At that time, the company’s side argued, “This case filed in the Madras High Court against the Singapore court order is not suitable for trial. Since the main company is located in Singapore, there is no mistake in filing the case in the Singapore court.”

At that time, Subramanian Swamy argued that “Though the main company is located in Singapore, there is a subsidiary company in Chennai. The officers of that company are in Chennai. Therefore, the case can be filed only in India.”

After all arguments in the case were over, the judges adjourned the hearing to March 23 for filing written arguments.
