On Sunday, March 5, the body of one of the divers who disappeared on Saturday, March 4, was found when he was carrying out an outbound anti-narcotics inspection of a ship, in José Bay, in Anzoátegui state.
In accordance with Last News, unofficially it was known that the victim was identified as Jackson Meza García.
The body was rescued by officials from the Coastal Surveillance Command of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB), Guanta Coast Guard and Marine Firefighters.
The authorities are still searching to find Meza’s partner, identified as Liam Marcano Riva. Both were workers of the Squalo service company in Puerto La Cruz.
day of disappearance
The Port Authority of the Anzoátegui Aquatic Circumscription received the complaint for the disappearance of both divers around 6:00 pm on March 4.
According to the minutes of the institution, Meza and Marcano did not come out of the water. While they were carrying out their work, they stopped having contact with the workers who were on the surface.
The authorities affirmed that the search for Marcano has been complicated due to the waves and the strong wind in the area.
The company responsible for the inspection reported that the search began 40 minutes after the divers submerged, but they did not come out in the reasonable time.
The ship bottom inspection procedure must be carried out with the “umbilical cord” system that supplies air from the surface; however, when the divers carried out the inspection, bad weather presented itself, which made it difficult to use the lanyard and they used SCUBA-type equipment (self-contained breathing apparatus).
