Disappointment
The members of the Tarhuna Victims Association were disappointed in Haftar, who promised them to hand over the wanted persons to justice. As a member of the League (Musab Abu Kleish) said in his interview with the Libya Panorama platform: “Two months ago, we gave the arrest warrants issued by the Public Prosecutor against the al-Kani criminals and their collaborators in order to hand them over to justice; Today, we are surprised by the formation of a council of elders and notables for fugitives from justice, with the support of Khalifa Haftar.”
The families of the victims and the blood relatives of the city of Tarhuna had disavowed, in a statement to them, the members of the association who met “Haftar” in Al-Rajma and considered him as offering him a paper of forgiveness and absolved him of his support for the “Al-Kani” militia that wreaked havoc on the land of Tarhuna. And it kidnapped, killed and displaced the people of the city by raising the social cover on them by the leaders of the social scene; accused of standing against the policies of “Al-Kani” at the time.
Retribution first:
The first official response was issued by the people of Tarhuna, who are the families of the “Al-Kani” victims, who reject the policies of the “Association of Tarhuna Victims”; The statement, a copy of which was obtained by the Libya Panorama platform, stated, “Those gathered in the city of Sirte do not represent a mortgage; And that there will be no sitting or dialogue until after the criminals of Al-Kani and their accomplices are brought to justice and retribution is applied to them.
And as an apology and recognition of the previous mistake; The Association of Tarhuna Victims issued a similar statement in which it affirmed that criminal crimes will not be subject to statute of limitations and will not be erased from the memory of the victims, and deals cannot be concluded in any way to acquit an accused or facilitate his escape from justice, no matter how high his position.

The head of the Council of Elders and Notables of Tarhuna, Suleiman al-Tawati, told Panorama that what is being managed is nothing but a social deal, in an attempt to return the symbols of the “Kaniyat” to the city under the name of “national reconciliation.” A lesson for all those who have committed crimes against Libyans.
