The businessman Alfred Akirov does not rest for a moment. Akirov filed a lawsuit against the insurance companies Migdal and AFM for loss of income during the Corona period. Akirov is demanding compensation of 100 million shekels from the two insurance companies for the loss of income from the hotels and parking lots owned by Alrov.

We will recall that the Corona period was an unusual period in which movement restrictions were imposed on the public due to the spread of the plague. These traffic restrictions naturally caused a loss of income for a long list of businesses, including hotels that were prohibited from receiving guests and, of course, parking lots that were not used due to those traffic restrictions.

In principle, the state compensated the various businesses for the loss of their income according to different tests, and hence it is not clear why Akirov is claiming additional compensation that the rest of the person does not deserve. One way or another, the claim was submitted to the insurance companies who rejected it and hence Akirov turned to the court with a request to clarify his claims.

Alrov has been attracting a lot of attention in the capital market in recent years. The beginning of the attention came to the world after Akirov wanted the public company Alrov to flow money to the Luka company in which his son holds shares. Since Valarov is a public company, it ran into other shareholders (colleagues of Clal Insurance’s provident, training and pension funds) who demanded that Akirov’s son also inject money or, alternatively, dilute it.

At that time, Akirov was outraged by this natural and obvious demand and started a world war against Clal Insurance until it was forced to sell its holding in the company to Canada Israel. Akirov then began to purchase shares of Clal Insurance with the intention of taking over it. In between, Kall tried to continue its business for the benefit of all shareholders and purchased the MAX credit card company.

This deal was a joke in the eyes of Akirov, who tried to get it canceled, an attempt that was unsuccessful. Between one thing and another, Canada Israel has since sold its shares in Arov, while rumors in the capital market speak of Akirov wanting to delete it from trading.

Now Akirov is making headlines due to this lawsuit against insurance companies for compensation of NIS 100 million for loss of income during the Corona period.
