North Korea on Tuesday accused the United States of intentionally generating tension in the regionafter Washington has carried out military exercises together with Seoul.

“Despite our repeated warnings, The US continues to intentionally aggravate the situation on the Korean Peninsula and the region”, reads a statement from the North Korean Foreign Ministry collected by the agency KCNA.

The authorities of Pyongyang have indicated that “the recent joint air drill (…) clearly shows that the US scheme to use nuclear weapons against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) is being carried out at the level of a real war.”

“The unbroken chain of US provocative military actions against the DPRK foreshadows the aggressive nature of joint US-South Korean military exercises on a large scale, which will begin in a few days, and the severity of the catastrophic stress that it will entail,” the letter continues.

Likewise, the Ministry has “strongly demanded the immediate cessation of hostile military acts that disturb peace and stability on the peninsula”, while calling on the international community to promote détente in the region.

The United States has made this Monday military maneuvers with a B-52H strategic bomber capable of carrying nuclear bombs in a joint exercise with the South Korean Armed Forces.

The South Korean Defense Ministry, which has reported these maneuvers carried out in the Yellow Sea, has indicated that they have participated also South Korean F-15K and KF-16 fighter jetsaccording to the South Korean news agency Yonhap.

Last Friday, the United States flew over the area with a B-1B bomber, also capable of dropping atomic bombs, in response to recent missile launches by North Korea.
