1. KL Rahul

KL Rahul is the first player in this list. He was part of the 1st and 2nd Tests between India and Australia. However, after a poor performance in two Tests, Rahul was dropped from the playing XI. Also, he was recently removed from the post of vice-captain. His poor performance in Tests for a long time became a talking point for many fans and demanded his removal from the playing XI. In the 2022-23 season, Rahul has scored just 95 runs in 7 innings at an average of 13.57. His top score was just 23. With Shubman Gill’s impressive form, it is unlikely that Rahul will be back as an opener in Tests anytime soon. Also, he will not be selected as a wicket keeper. So, KL Rahul may retire from Tests after IND vs AUS 4th Test.

2. Jaidev Unadkat

Another player who might retire from Tests after IND vs AUS 4th Test is Jaidev Unathkat. The left-arm fast bowler made his Test comeback after almost 10 years in the Test series against Bangladesh in December last year. However, he managed to take only 3 wickets in a Test match during the series. He is part of the India and Australia Test series but has not been given a chance so far. With Umesh Yadav taking 3 wickets in the previous Test, he is expected to regain his place in the 4th Test. Also, if India qualify, Undcutt seems unlikely to make the final squad for the World Test Championship. So, Unathkat may think of Test rest after the India vs Australia Test series.

3. Mohammed Shami

Another player in this list is Mohammed Shami. Shami is currently India’s key fast bowler, however, his performances in Tests have not been up to the mark in recent times. So far in 2023, Shami has taken only 7 wickets in 2 matches at an average of 14.42. Last year too, Shami played 5 Test matches and took 13 wickets in 10 innings. Mohammed Siraj is also emerging as an emerging fast bowler for Shami in place of Shami. Shami is 33 years old and many other young fast bowlers have been doing brilliantly for India. They may soon replace Shami in the Test team. So, Shami might consider retirement after IND vs AUS 4th Test.
