TAP CEO and president risk fines, ministers excluded from financial responsibilities

by time news

The fate of Manuel Beja and Christine Ourmières-Widener as chairman of the board of directors and executive chairman of TAP, respectively, is set: they will leave the company, removed by the state shareholder. However, not everything will be left behind, as there are sanctions that may be imposed on them, and they may even have to pay fines.

The General Inspection of Finance, which asks the Court of Auditors to analyze the flaws detected, even underlines that the prescriptions are still far away. At issue is the process that led to the departure of Alexandra Reis from the administration of TAP, which dates from February 2022.

Outside this possibility of fines, at least based on the assessment made by the IGF, are the ministers who exercised shareholder functions over TAP at that time, Pedro Nuno Santos and João Leão, or when Alexandra Reis later passed to NAV without returning the compensation , in June, with Pedro Nuno Santos and Fernando Medina.
