Dhaka: 11 people died in an explosion in Dhaka, Bangladesh. More than 70 people have been injured. The blast took place around 4:50 pm. It is reported that the explosion took place on the seventh floor of a multi-storey building. The blast took place in a busy market area in Dhaka. The cause of the explosion is unclear. The death toll is likely to rise. The rescue operation is progressing. Five firefighting units have reached the spot following the explosion. The injured have been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, police said. The injured are being treated in the emergency department. A bus standing on the opposite side of the road was also reportedly damaged in the blast.

Pakistan: Nine policemen were killed in a suicide bomb attack in Bolan, Pakistan. 11 people were injured. The attack took place in Bolan in the Balochistan region of southwestern Pakistan. Kachhi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mahmood Notzai told Pakistani media Dawn that the blast took place at Cambri Bridge, an area near the Sibi-Kachhi border.

The police said that the death is suspected to be a bomb attack and the circumstances behind the attack are being investigated. Notzai said that bomb squads and security personnel have reached the spot and are conducting inspections. He added that security has been beefed up in the area.

The policemen who died in the suicide bombing were members of the Balochistan Constabulary (BC). Balochistan Constabulary is a department of the provincial police force to provide security at important incidents and sensitive areas including prisons.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quds Bizencho condemned the attack. The attack took place in the city of Sibbi, about 160 kilometers (100 miles) east of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province. No group claimed responsibility for the attack. Senior police officer Abdul Hai Amir told AFP news agency that the deceased was riding a motorbike and crashed into the back of a truck.
