Riots in France: President Macron promotes a reform that will make it difficult for the elderly population

The BBC reports that protesters blocked the delivery of fuel to refineries, most trains were shut down and schools remained closed. Many sectors participate in the strike: teachers, train drivers, gas workers, electrical workers and industrial workers. According to police estimates, about 1.1 million protesters participate in the demonstrations.

The striking organizations announced that, unlike previous strikes in the country, at the end of each day a vote would be held regarding the next day. French President Emmanuel Macron claims that the reform is necessary due to the expected deficit in the next 25 years. The government continues the legislative procedures and with it the protesters who continue to paralyze the state. Workers will have to set aside for retirement for 43 years before they can enjoy a full pension, according to the planned reform. In other European countries such as Italy, Germany and Spain, the retirement age has also been raised to 67.
