The Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism launched, this Tuesday, March 7, 2023 in Ouagadougou, the 3rd phase of the “woman in creation” project initiated by the Wéléni Association and supported by the Development Fund Culture and Tourism (FDCT) and the European Union (EU).
This third phase is a continuation of act 1 and 2 of the project ”woman in creation of the Wéléni association. She wants to be very practical. Women directors from Woman in creation act 1 and 2 will produce shows. In this sense, the beneficiaries followed a training in dramatic writing which took place from March 1st to 6th. They will have to “now continue the writing stage and until April 7 when they must give us 4 texts, one text per person. After this stage, we will launch a call for applications which has even already been launched to recruit professional actresses, therefore 12 actresses, and we will provide each director with three actresses for the creation of the show. to explain the president of the Wéléni association, Laure Guiré, initiator of Woman in creation.
In order to consolidate the achievements of the women of Cascades and Houet trained as part of Act 2 of this project, they will be taken on as assistant directors in the production of shows. Then, they will follow a training in light management and scenography. Thereafter, they will ensure the scenography and the lighting control of the shows which will be created by the four women, confides Laure Guiré.
In summary, for the president of the Wéléni association, act 3 of woman in creation, It is ” have four texts written by women who will be declared to the BBDA, four shows that will be staged, four women who have been trained in playwriting and eight women who will be trained in scenography and light management, and twelve actresses who will create a show ».
This training will enable women to emancipate themselves and integrate trades long reserved for men. According to Alima Nikiema, one of the beneficiaries, this project has given her a plus in her artistic career, because it is a complete training. It also allowed him to train other people.
The Woman in Creation project is a capacity building process initiated in 2019 by the association Weleni with the aim of involving women in trades which seem to be reserved for men. The project is co-financed by the Cultural and Tourism Development Fund (FDCT) and the European Union (UE). For the president of the association WeleniLaure I will turnthe launch of the project in March, is a nod to the celebration of Women’s Month. Moreover, she thinks that this celebration is “to liberate women” to make her autonomous, therefore to train her and “find something to do”.
