Internet penetration rate in Africa: Central Africa lags behind

DIG/ An indisputable and essential communication tool in this decade, the Internet is nevertheless very unevenly distributed on the African continent.

The central part of the continent lags behind with only 27.9% penetration ratedespite efforts to deploy this communication medium in Gabon which stands at 62%, much better than the 5 other countries of the sub-region.

Southern Africa has the best Internet penetration rate with 70.6%.

North Africa (65.9%) and West Africa (48%) come just after.

The classification is closed by East Africa, which only has a 23.1% Internet penetration rate.
