A technician was crushed to death from an elevator in Jerusalem

An elevator technician was crushed to death this evening (Wednesday) in the Beit Hanina neighborhood of Jerusalem after he installed a disabled elevator in a building on Chalat Mashaal Street. The victim, about 50 years old, was fatally wounded and was taken to Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital during resuscitation operations, and was later pronounced dead.

The accident occurred around 6:26 p.m. Paramedic Yaakov Malul from the Rescue Union said the elevator collapsed on the technician and crushed him, but police said a power outage apparently caused the accident – and began investigating the circumstances of the case in addition to forwarding a report to the Ministry of Labor.
