An Indonesian court sentenced Thursday, March 9 to prison for negligence two officials of a football match after which a stampede left 135 dead in October 2022, one of the worst disasters in the history of sport. Abdul Haris, a match organizer, was sentenced to 18 months in prison. The prosecution had requested six years and eight months of imprisonment. The court also sentenced match security officer Suko Sutrisno to one year in prison for negligence. The two men have seven days to appeal their conviction.
