Berlin: Olaf Scholes, 63, has been sworn in as Germany’s new chancellor. Olaf is the ninth chancellor of the country since World War II. Scholes won a majority of 395 votes in a secret ballot in the lower house of parliament yesterday. In the 736 – seat lower house, Scholes’ Social Democrats, the Green Party and the Free Democrats allied together for 416 seats. Scholes is set to succeed Angela Merkel, who has led Germany for the past 16 years. Along with Angala, Scholes was Vice Chancellor and Minister of Finance.
