Clambakem new bus station to open soon

The foundation stone was laid during the AIADMK regime in February 2019 for the construction of a new suburban bus station in order to reduce traffic congestion in Chennai city. For this purpose, a site was selected at Klambag next to Vandalur and 393.74 crore rupees were allocated for the construction of the bus station and the work started and was underway. Construction work has been going on at a fast pace for the past few months despite the delay in the construction work due to Corona.

This new bus station is being set up with all modern facilities to accommodate Rs.1½ lakh passengers daily. Constructions are being carried out to accommodate 209 buses, 270 cars and 3,500 two-wheelers at the same time. City buses are being operated from various parts of Chennai to the new bus station. A special place has been reserved for this.

Arrangements are also made to get electricity by installing solar panels. There are various facilities like waiting area and accommodation for passengers. Sewerage and rainwater drainage facilities, rainwater harvesting projects etc. have also been undertaken.

95 percent completion of work on Clambakem new bus station. Some remaining works are also progressing rapidly. Thus, in a few days, Clambakkam bus stand will be available for public use.

In this case, Klambakkam new bus station was inaugurated by Minister of Hindu Religious Charities and Chairman of Chennai Metropolitan Development Committee P.K. Shekharbabu, Minister of Small, Micro and Medium Enterprises Department. Anbarasan inspected in person today.

The Ministers inspected the construction work of the new bus stand which is almost complete.

Speaking to the media after this survey, Minister Shekharbabu said that steps are being taken to dedicate the Clambakkam bus station for public use very soon.
