BYD more than doubles plug-in EV sales in February

According to the company’s report, last month BYD’s plug-in passenger car sales totaled 191,660 (the company’s best February ever), which is 119% higher year-on-year. previous.

The overwhelming majority of BYD’s sales take place in China, while exports represent a good percentage of the total result. The recent result indicates that the Chinese manufacturer is ready to pass 200,000 units per month.

It is interesting to see that sales of all-electric vehicles (BEV) and plug-in hybrids (PHEV) expand at a very similar rate year-over-year. The PHEV segment remains slightly bigger and faster.

Check out the BYD plug-in car sales results below:

  • BEVs: 90.63 thousand (110% increase compared to the previous year);
  • PHEVs: 101.02 thousand (128% increase compared to the previous year);
  • Total: 191.66 thousand (119% increase year-on-year).

Of the total, around 15,000 BYD plug-ins were exported (a new monthly record for the company). In addition to passenger cars, BYD sold 1,990 commercial electric vehicles for a total of 193,650 plug-in vehicles last month.

So far this year, BYD has sold more than 341,000 plug-in electric cars, which is 89% more than the year before.

In terms of models, the BYD Song family (BEV + PHEV) remains the most popular of the BYD lineup, with 52,400 units sold in January. The other high volume models were:

  • All-electric BYD Yuan – 33,610 units;
  • BYD Qin family (BEV + PHEV) – 30.54 thousand; all-electric BYD Dolphin – 22.86 thousand;
  • Família BYD Han (BEV + PHEV) – 12,34 thousand;
