An incident in Kanyakumari where a woman was tortured by the auto drivers by tying her to an electric pole after she knocked the auto drivers for teasing them has caused a great shock.
A woman from Kanyakumari has lost her husband and lives alone with her 9-year-old daughter. He is said to be running a massage center in Marthandam area. He felt that his daughter was not safe because she was alone at home, so he put his daughter in an orphanage to study.
In this situation, some auto drivers in that area have been harassing him daily by teasing him and saying that he may be having fun alone while passing through the upper part of the massage center that he is running. It is said that the person got scared and kept chilli powder and a knife in his hand for his own protection.

In this situation yesterday morning as usual, when the woman came to the upper area to go to her massage center, some of the auto drivers standing there again taunted her and tried to sexually harass her.

Shocked by this, he took the chilli powder he had in his hand and threw it at the auto drivers and tried to save himself. It is said that some of the auto drivers who were standing there grabbed him by force and tied his hands and feet to the electric pole. The injured person was tied to the pole for more than an hour and the related photos are going viral on social media.
Following this, Arumanai police rushed to the spot and rescued the woman who was tied to the electric pole and brought her to the police station for investigation. During the investigation, the police reached the spot and arrested the three auto drivers after informing the police of the abuses that had happened to him. While Women’s Day was celebrated on the 8th of last year across the country, the incident of tying a woman to an electric pole and attacking her has created a stir in Kumari district.
