The central government has not yet announced the increase in allowances related to the 7th Pay Commission DA increase. But it has been decided to increase it to four percent, according to reports. At present, 38 per cent gratuity is paid to central government employees, which is expected to rise to 42 per cent soon. This will benefit 65 lakh central employees and 48 lakh pensioners. After this, on July 1, 2023, DA of central employees will be hiked again.
Increase based on AICPI index
The increase is based on the figures of AICPI index published by the Ministry of Labour. After a decline in December, January’s numbers rebounded. Looking at this figure, it seems that there will be a 4 percent DA hike in July.
In fact, based on AICPI index figures from January to June, DA will increase in July. The July subsidy hike is usually announced by the government in September.

AICPI scored 132.8 points
The December 2022 figure was 132.3 points. Therefore, the DA hike applicable from July 1 is expected to be 4 percent. DA for July will be announced based on AICPI index data coming after January.
DA increases twice a year
Under the Seventh Pay Commission, the DA of Central Government employees is increased twice a year. Now the DA of January 2023 will be announced soon. After this the DA of July 2023 will be declared.
The government agency that publishes the data
The price hike will be decided on the basis of the AICPI index. On the last working day of the month, the All India Consumer Price Index (All India Consumer Price Index) figures are released by the Ministry of Labour. This code has been prepared for all 88 centers and across the country.
