What did Saudi Arabia and Iran say after the agreement to resume relations?

On Friday, Saudi Arabia and Iran considered that the agreement to resume diplomatic relations perpetuates dialogue and contributes to the stability of the region.

On Friday, Iran and Saudi Arabia announced the resumption of their diplomatic relations, at the initiative of China.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan said in a tweet on Twitter: “The resumption of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom and Iran stems from the Kingdom’s vision based on preferring political solutions and dialogue, and its keenness to perpetuate this in the region. The countries of the region share one destiny and common denominators, which make it necessary for us to share together to build a model of prosperity and stability for our peoples to enjoy.”

For his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister said in a tweet on Twitter today, Friday, “The return of normal relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia puts great possibilities within the reach of the two countries, as well as the region and the Islamic world.”

The Iranian foreign minister added, “The neighborhood policy, as a fundamental axis of the foreign policy of the current Iranian government, is moving strongly on its right track, and the (Iranian) diplomatic apparatus is actively moving to pave the way for other regional steps.”

Beijing hosted intense negotiations between the Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, and his Saudi counterpart, Musaed bin Muhammad al-Aiban, between March 6 and 10, which resulted in the announcement of an agreement between the two countries today, Friday, to resume diplomatic relations after a 7-year break.

He is scheduled to meet with the foreign ministers of both countries to implement this decision and make the necessary preparations for the exchange of ambassadors.
The main points of agreement

Approving the resumption of diplomatic relations between them and the reopening of their embassies and representations within a maximum period of two months
Their emphasis includes respect for the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs.
They agreed that the foreign ministers of the two countries would hold a meeting to activate this, arrange the exchange of ambassadors, and discuss ways to strengthen relations between them
They agreed to activate the security cooperation agreement between them, signed in 2001, and the general agreement for cooperation in the field of economy, trade, investment, technology, science, culture, sports and youth, signed in 1998.
Each of the three countries expressed their keenness to make every effort to enhance regional and international peace and security.
