Next generation Lamborghini Urus will be 100% electric

by time news

The Ferrari Purosangue is already there and with absolute success, even if the press reviews are not completely positive, but it is a rival that will need to be stopped at some point by the rivals.

The closest is the Lamborghini Urus and the fighting bull brand is preparing the answer with its Urus which, according to CEO Stephan Winkelmann, will have its next generation in 2029 and will be fully electric.

Stephan Winkelmann, speaking to journalists invited to preview the Aventador’s successor, commented: “On the 28th and 29th we will have our first two BEVs”.

The German executive spoke further: “We will have a fourth model, so today we have three models. It will be the first to be a fully BEV car in 2028. And then in 2029 there will be the new Urus.”

With these two models, Lamborghini will reduce the emissions of its range by 80% compared to today, and Winkelmann hints at the hybridization of the Urus as early as 2024.

Speaking about electrification, the CEO of Lamborghini explained: “This year and next year we will hybridize our entire line-up. The first is the positioning car, then the real Lamborghini, the spearhead of our range.”

If you’re curious about the exact makeup of that team, Winkelmann spilled the beans: “And then we’re going to model the Urus as a hybrid in 2024. And at the end of 2024 the brand new Huracán will hit the market.”

This Huracán will be a plug-in hybrid model, thus fulfilling the determination of a 100% electrified range, which we will see from 2025.

The Urus PHEV, on the other hand, should assume an automatic transmission with an integrated electric motor, being able to add from 150 to 200 horsepower in addition to the current ones, which means that it can reach 850 horsepower.

As this is a first investment, a power of around 800 horsepower would already be a huge gain, with a later upgrade to 850 or 900 horsepower.

The new 100% electric generation can simply arrive with the 1,000 horses that we will soon see in the successor to the Aventador, which will still have a V12.
