Thanks to the strengthening of services in hospitals in the country promoted by this State portfolio, patients with heart disease have access to the echocardiography service at the Riobamba Provincial General Teaching Hospital (HPGDR), located in the cantonal capital of Chimborazo.
María Luisa Rodríguez, cardiologist at HPGD Riobamba, said that the equipment helps to identify diseases such as valvulopathies and congenital heart diseases and to control whether heart problems are the cause of symptoms such as shortness of breath or chest pain. Users will be able to access this service after consulting with the specialist doctor and according to their clinical diagnosis.
“My sister-in-law was hospitalized for a problem in her heart, after the prescription of medications and treatments, they performed an echocardiography. With this examination, the doctors indicate that her heart is fine and they will discharge her, ”said Cecilia Tagua, a relative of the beneficiary user.
An echocardiography can rule out cardiac pathologies. It consists of a diagnostic test that, through high-frequency sound waves, provides information about the shape, size, and strength of the heart.
This procedure lasts between 30 to 45 minutes and is performed in the outpatient service on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Two exams are carried out per day, that is, 6 per week.
This health home reaffirms its commitment to the well-being of the population, focused on guaranteeing quality care. For this, work is being done to strengthen the equipment and human talent of health establishments nationwide.
