CHIKKAMAGALUR-A Tarikere court sentenced a person who drove a bike at high speed and caused the death of another bike occupant.

Pratap, 38, hails from Sokke Thimmapura village near Ajjambura, Chikkamagaluru Tarikere.

On August 23, 2017, he was speeding on his bike in front of Ajjambura ABMC when he collided with another oncoming bike.

Lokeshappa, 50, who was sitting behind another bike, died. Basavarajappa who was riding the bike was injured.

The Tarikere village police registered a case, arrested Pratap and filed a chargesheet in the Tarikere court.

He was found guilty on trial. Imprisonment for six months, fine of Rs.1,000 for negligent driving; One year imprisonment, Rs 8,500 fine for death of Lokeshappa; The court yesterday sentenced Basavarajappa to six months in jail and a fine of Rs 500.

The court said that out of the fine, Rs 5,000 should be paid to the family of the deceased, Rs 3,000 to the injured and Rs 2,000 to the government.
