The president of the National Institute for Women (Inf), Claudine Prudencio, invites women to be more involved in the digital sector. She made it known through a message she sent to them as part of the celebration of International Women’s Day on Wednesday, March 8th.

From the start, she paid tribute and congratulated all these women who dare to venture into the digital sector. “While it is true that the digital world does not escape the sad reality of the imbalances and gaps that we see between the presence of men and that of women in certain sectors of activity, it is obvious that in our dear country Benin, several women are asserting themselves and trying to raise their heads in the Beninese digital ecosystem. From web development to community management, through the administration of systems and networks, cyber security and web-entrepreneurship, they are not numerous but not non-existent,” she acknowledged. In her message, she wanted women to be active in the digital sector. According to her, this is also what motivated the government of President Patrice Talon to carry out in high schools of excellence for young girls, the project of digital rooms which will increase in the future, the interest of beneficiaries for the digital. “As for the digital school set up by the Beninese government, our wish is that parents encourage girls to enroll massively in order to reduce or even eliminate in the coming years, inequalities between the sexes in invention and technology in the digital world”, added the President of the Inf, Claudine Prudencio. Finally, she invited women to arm themselves with the courage to evolve in a world dominated by men. “My dear sister bloggers, influencers, web activists, no search for visibility, even less audience, on digital media for any purpose whatsoever should under any circumstances make you take risks likely to distance you not only from the values that embodies the African woman but also to question your dignity and your honour, ”she said.
