Happy that the 40-year-old banyan tree that was felled was replanted: Steps should be taken to protect it, says BJP. President Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss has expressed pain.

In a press release issued by him today, “A 40-year-old banyan tree that was cut down from the roadside in Soonampedu village, Chengalpattu district, has been planted again in the government high school in the same area. It is gratifying that the felled banyan tree has been revived.

Ever since the banyan tree was cut down in Soonampet, the Green Garden has been making continuous efforts to revive it. It is because of this that it is possible. This is a victory for the Greens. Kudos to the Green House administrators for that.

I would like to express my gratitude to Chengalpattu District Collector, Horticulture Department officials and Regional Development Department officials who accepted the request of the Green Department and arranged for the replanting of the felled banyan tree.

Our duties do not end with banyan tree planting. The horticulture department should monitor the banyan tree till it sprouts again and take necessary measures. “The government should ensure that the banyan tree grows back and is protected,” Anbumani Ramadoss emphasized.
