Echoing the image of a tempestuous cauldron sent back by the National Assembly during the debate on pensions, the Senate had promised, with a paternalizing half-smile, to restore a bit of wisdom and serenity to the democratic contest, once the text arrived at the Luxembourg Palace. But the dormant volcano is also sometimes capable of erupting. Thus, ten uninterrupted days (evenings, nights, weekends!) of discussions on the government’s reform project will have made the upper house, its red carpets and its padded atmosphere, slightly rock.
