Guayaquil, March 11, 2023

Since March, the Monte Sinai General Hospital (HGMS) of the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) has new services in the outpatient area, including: hematology, reconstructive plastic surgery, rheumatology, and infectious diseases.

In the plastic and reconstructive surgery service, congenital deformities such as cleft lip or palate can be corrected. And with regard to hematology, the hospital center becomes the fourth establishment of the Zonal Coordination 8 of the MSP to have this specialty.

The opening and expansion of these services occurs after the hiring of 765 health professionals, arranged by the National Government. This increase in human talent also made it possible to double the number of beds in surgical, pediatric, gynecological and internal medicine hospitalization. In this way, the operational and problem-solving capacity is increased.

With this service, the HGMS’s operability increases, which will help reduce the risks associated with patient referrals to other health facilities.

The new services in the outpatient portfolio will be offered from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., while those for hospitalization will be active 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Monte Sinai Hospital plans to open all of its services until the end of 2023. In the last phase, it plans to open the pneumological hospitalization area, as well as the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and burns.
