Water stagnated again in the barrage for drinking water Re-storage of water in the barrage for drinking water

by time news

Pallipalayam: Water has been re-stored for drinking water in Odapalli barrage reservoir.
A barrage was constructed in 2011 across the Kaveri river in Odapalli area next to Pallipalayam in Namakkal district. In the dam reservoir, water is stored to a height of 9 m and 30 MW of electricity is generated.
When there is more water in the river and the delta opens up for irrigation, power generation takes place. Water is taken from Avathipalayam, the reservoir area of the barrage, purified and supplied to many parts of the district.
For the last more than 20 days, the water in the reservoir was completely drained for the maintenance work of the dam, leaving the reservoir area empty without water and found to be rocky. This affected the water supply. There was scarcity of drinking water in various places. The water coming into the river since yesterday has been stored in the reservoir for drinking again. It is worth noting that drinking water supply will remain as usual.
