The appeal of March 12. This Sunday, the first secretary of the Socialist Party Olivier Faure invited the elected Republicans to the National Assembly so that they oppose, in the name of Gaullism, the pension reform. “I ask them to be faithful to their convictions”, he declared in the program Dimanche en Politique on France 3.

“If there are still Gaullists in the Assembly, they must remember that they are a party that set up the pay-as-you-go pension system with us, that they are its heirs, perhaps even the continuators,” he added.

The government bill was voted on Saturday evening by the Senate. But it will only be definitively adopted after a very uncertain vote scheduled for Thursday in the National Assembly and for which the support of elected LR is essential to the government.

Faced with social protest, Olivier Faure also called on Emmanuel Macron to organize a referendum on this reform. “The best way to avert this divide is the referendum, it is to return the ultimate decision to the French people,” he said.
