SNCF: an increase in tolls in 2024… and a further increase in ticket prices?

One increase can hide another. In January 2023, under the effect of the additional energy cost, the new SNCF price list showed tickets more expensive by 5% on average. However, a new increase could follow, in a few months. Blame it on the increase in the price of rail tolls, decided by SNCF Réseau and validated, at the end of February, by the Transport Regulatory Authority (ART). This fee, paid by carriers to ride on the rails, will increase in 2024 by 8% for TERs, and 7.6% for TGVs and Intercités. Then by 4% in 2025 and 2026.
