Chennai: Prime Minister Modi is going to inaugurate the newly built modern terminal at the Chennai airport next month, officials said.

Chennai Airport has completed the first building of integrated air terminals, which is being built at a cost of Rs 2,400 crore and is being built on 2.36 lakh square meters.

Once the terminal becomes operational, the number of passengers will increase from 2.2 crore to 3.5 crore in a year. The terminal has a total of five floors. The terminal is slated to open next month.

In this regard, airport officials said:

The construction work of the new airport is 99 percent complete. Machines for handling passengers’ belongings, scanning machines for detecting the presence of prohibited items, modern machines for speedy checking and dispatch of belongings etc. have been installed.

At the terminal, certain tasks require permission to operate. Once they are available, in the second week of April, the new terminal will be opened. Prime Minister Modi is going to inaugurate this; The work is in progress.
