A 33-year-old resident of Bir HaDaj was arrested this evening (Sunday) by security forces on suspicion of keeping a protected animal of the Ofer type in his home illegally and under inappropriate conditions, and documented himself on social media.

Documentation on the social networks of the suspect who held the ofer was discovered in the central unit of the Southern Border Guard, which opened an undercover investigation. Today, the “golden information” was received in the southern Border Guard’s central unit, which led the soldiers of the Border Assault Unit (Rural Assault Unit) of the Border Guard South for activity in the settlement of Bir HaDaj in the Negev. As part of the activity, the security forces raided the suspect’s house, and in searching his house they located him and the young Ofer who was being held illegally and in inappropriate conditions.

The suspect was transferred to the Nature and Parks Authority for further investigation, while the young Ofer was transferred to appropriate veterinary treatment.
