On the 13th, Justice Party representative Lee Jeong-mi criticized the 300 won increase in public transportation fares in Seoul as “Oh Se-hoon-style pain transfer.” Representative Lee suggested the ‘Public Transportation 30,000 Won Free Pass’ system, which uses public transportation regularly for 30,000 Won per month, as an alternative.
At the Commerce Executive Committee meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Representative Lee said, “Se-Hoon Oh, Seoul Mayor, who only burdens the common people, is only sighing for Seoul citizens to raise rates.” He criticized that he passed on his responsibility for neglecting the operation of the semi-public bus companies to the citizens.”
At a plenary session on the 10th, the Seoul Metropolitan Council passed a bill to raise subway and bus fares by 300 won from the second half of this year. This adjustment plan will be finalized after passing through the Price Countermeasures Deliberation Committee sometime next month.
Representative Lee said, “The alternative to the coming economic crisis is not to pass on the pain of Oh Se-hoon’s style, but to share the pain with the common people.” We propose a public transportation free pass system of 30,000 won for regular use of transportation.”

The Justice Party decided to launch the ‘Public Transportation 30,000 Won Free Pass Campaign Headquarters’ sooner or later. Representative Lee said, “Free public transportation experiments have already begun in various local government units in Korea,” and “following free education and free medical care, we will open an era of free public transportation.”
