“We promised – we deliver”: The Ministerial Committee voted in favor of two critical laws to promote settlement

by time news

A committee of ministers for legislation voted today at its meeting in favor of two critical laws to promote rural settlement, this after years of neglect. Minister Struck: “We are determined to work for rural settlement in Yosh, the Negev and the Galilee.”

The Ministerial Committee on Legislation decided to promote the following bills:

1. To apply continuous law to the bill initiated by Minister Orit Strock in the previous Knesset to amend the Law on Cooperative Societies.

2. Attach a representative on behalf of Struck as the Minister of Settlement and National Missions to the National Planning Council and the planning committees in national priority areas.

The heads of the regional councils in the Negev and the Galilee expressed great support and even pushed for the promotion of the two laws.

The bill to amend the Cooperative Societies Law expands the arrangement that allows the settlements to grow and receive new residents while maintaining the unique texture of each settlement, so that it will also apply to the areas of the seam and Yosh, and will allow the expansion of the settlements up to 1000 lots instead of 400 families according to the current law. We note That in the original bill it was decided to increase from 400 to 700, and that in accordance with the new coalition agreements the number will be increased to 1000 lots.

In recent weeks, the Minister of Settlements and National Missions held tours of the rural settlements in the Galilee, the Negev, and last Thursday in the settlements of the seam line in Nahal Iron, and in all the tours she strengthened the spirit of the settlers and promised that the bills would be promoted soon.

The Minister of Settlements and National Missions Orit Struck said after the decision: “We promised – we will deliver. I will continue to promote rural settlement in the Galilee, the Negev, the Hatfer seam and Yosh. After years of government neglect, this government will operate according to the value of the settlement, and in response to it.”
