Owner of PSG, QSI targets Malaga and wants to expand his empire

Owner of PSG, Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) is in an important period of its development and hopes to conclude several transactions during the year 2023. After acquiring 21% of the shares of Portuguese club Braga in 2022, the investment fund Qatari investment led by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi is considering whether to become a majority shareholder in Malaga. According to information from Cadena COPE, QSI could buy 51% of the shares for €9 million. A modest sum which is explained by the poor financial and sporting situation of this club, 20th (out of 22) in the Spanish second division championship. The financial negotiations could prove relatively easy since since 2010, Malaga CF has been owned by Abdallah ben Nasser Al Thani, a distant cousin of the Emir of Qatar.
