The 95th Oscars were announced yesterday at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, USA. The movie The Elephant Whisperers from India, RRR’s Country Country Song won the Best Documentary Short Film category and the Best Original Song category. Director Karthiki Consulves and Music Composer MM Keeravani received the awards.
However, those who didn’t make the winner’s list but were nominated for the Oscars weren’t sent home empty-handed. The Oscar-nominated films took home a prize bag worth $126,000 (approx. ₹ 1.03 crore).
Each year, thousands of dollars worth of prizes are awarded to top Oscar nominees. Distinctive Assets, a Los Angeles-based marketing firm not affiliated with the Academy, has been offering these additional prizes since 2002.
Nominations in the major categories of Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best Director are titled “Everyone Wins” in that order. It is awarded to graduates.
This year’s Oscars gift bag includes items ranging from Japanese milk bread and a trip to an Italian island to a cosmetic treatment and a moonlit retreat in Australia. There are a total of 60 prizes in the bag.
Here’s a look at the top prizes in that gift bag:
A coupon worth $40,000 (about 33 lakhs) is being offered for a three-night stay at The Lifestyle, a luxury hotel in Ottawa, Canada.
The nominee and up to 7 friends are offered a three-night stay at the Faro Punta Imperatore Lighthouse in Ischia, Italy worth $9,000 (approximately ₹ 7.3 lakh).
Apart from these, the nominees will be awarded $25,000 (20.5 lakhs) as project management fee for home renovation by Maison Constructions.
Dr. Thomas Choo’s $12,000(9.8 lakh) hand liposuction procedure to “give women an instant slimmer and toned look” is being awarded.
Also recommended is the popular Japanese milk bread from Kinza Nishikawa, priced at $18. A pack of Cliff Thins priced at $13.56 is also part of the gift bag.

But since the gift bag is not officially recognized by the Oscars, it is up to the organization to decide which nominees will receive the gift bag. And the entire prize money, which is not officially given by Oscar, has to be taxed. So celebrities can choose their desired gift and get it.
