KYIV. March 15. UNN The incident with the American MQ-9 Reaper and the Russian Su-27 in the Black Sea will not cause a direct conflict between the United States and Russia. This is stated in the report of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), reports UNN

Details

The commander of the US Air Force in Europe and Africa, General James B. Hecker, is known to have said that two Russian Su-27 aircraft shot down an American drone, which almost led to the crash of the Russian aircraft. Instead, the Ministry of Defense of Russia stated that the drone crashed due to “sharp maneuvering”. ISW believes that the incident with the drone will not lead to a direct conflict between the Russian Federation and the USA.

“For decades, Russian forces have used intimidation tactics against American and allied aircraft and ships, which did not lead to conflict,” experts note.

Analysts also added that the presidents of the United States and the Russian Federation have complete freedom of choice regarding their response, and such incidents did not automatically become the cause of escalation of confrontation between the countries.

“Considering the fact that President Joe Biden has repeatedly spoken about the desire to avoid a direct conflict of the American military with the Russian Federation, and the Kremlin has clearly and repeatedly demonstrated its reluctance to start a war with NATO, there is no reason to believe that such incidents can lead to a dangerous escalation,” they are convinced experts
