With boneless bicycle tires and frames as a welcome, the La Recyclette bicycle repair shop has adopted its premises in Orly, where it has been established since last spring. Here, the prices have nothing to do with what you can see in big stores. Getting a functional second-hand bike for 60 euros, or electrifying your bike for 300 euros, it’s possible. The aim of this initiative, proposed and supported by Fresnes Services, a professional integration assistance association, is to put the six employees of this workshop back on the path to employment.
“Regain a rhythm of life, responsibilities”
“The workshop is the desire to help people outside the job market to resume a rhythm of life, responsibilities, constraints, to then leave with training in bicycle repair and customer service” , explains Alain Bonamy, president of the Fresnes Services association.
“For me, it allows me above all to find a good rhythm with the 25 hours and it’s quite formative as work”, estimates Mohamed Amini, young employee renewed for next year.
Donate your old bikes
If you want to change your two scooter tires for 50 euros, the repair can take place in the space of a few days. Indeed, for this first year, the workshop has identified only 150 repairs distributed among the six employees. “We have time to do things well to train and at the same time to meet customer expectations,” says Hamzaoui Amokrane, one of the workers.
Expectations which are also taken into account in the diversification of services. “I asked if they could reassemble some small wheelbarrow wheels that I use, and they did it very well and very quickly, I just had to provide them with the parts”, testifies Nicolas Guichet, regular customer of the workshop.
In addition to offering repairs, bicycle donations are also welcome. “They allow both to obtain second-hand parts for repair, but also, when the season is low and there is little demand, employees will take the opportunity to repair these donated bikes and be able to sell them. at low cost”, continues Alain.
To benefit from these services, you simply have to become a member of the association, for five euros. For now, the association has 90 members, but with a clear objective for 2023: to export. And why not in a repair truck across the department…
La Recyclette is located at 38, rue du Docteur Calmette, in Orly. Open Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
