Russia’s ambassador to the United States, Anatoli Antonov, on Wednesday urged Washington to stop “hostile” flights near Russian borders after a US drone was intercepted on Tuesday by Moscow fighter jets over the sea. Black.

“We presume that the United States will refrain from further speculation in the media and stop flights near Russian borders,” Ambassador Antonov wrote in a statement released on Telegram.

“We consider any action using US weaponry to be openly hostile,” he added.

“Russia does not seek confrontation and continues to bet on pragmatic cooperation in the interests of the populations of our countries.”

On Tuesday, the US government accused Russian aviation of “intercepting and attacking” an American MQ-Reaper drone over the Black Sea, which caused the device to crash.

Russia denied the accusation, but admitted that two fighter jets from the country detected the presence of an American drone “over the waters of the Black Sea, in the region of the Crimean peninsula”, flying towards “the Russian border”.
