Leading Muslim organizations endorsed and supported the central government’s stand in the Supreme Court regarding same-sex marriage

These days in the country, a debate is going on in the Supreme Court to provide legal justification to same-sex marriages. Last day, the central government filed an affidavit opposing same-sex marriage in the Supreme Court. In its affidavit filed in the Supreme Court, the central government opposed the plea to legalize same-sex marriage, saying that the practice of same-sex couples living together is no longer a crime, but same-sex marriage. Approval cannot be granted.
Meanwhile, leading Muslim organizations have also opposed the legalization of same-sex marriage and termed this practice against nature and further supported the central government’s stand. Professor Salim Engineer said that Jamaat-e-Islami Hind is against same-sex marriages. He said that we feel that the right and universally accepted meaning of marriage is marriage between a man and a woman. Any tampering with it will be against our cultural values and will also affect many personal laws of the country. He said that Jamaat-e-Islami Hind was also against the criminalization of Section 377 of the IPC, which allows homosexual acts between consenting adults.
We feel that allowing and promoting same-sex marriages will pose a great threat to the good family system in society. This will violate the rights of men and women and harm the moral values of the society.
The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has agreed with the government’s stand on same-sex marriage, as revealed by the central government in its affidavit in the Supreme Court of India, Professor Saleem asserted that the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind is the right of all citizens. Strongly believes in fundamental rights and is a strong supporter of freedom and minority rights. However, he added, “We want to remind our fellow countrymen that with freedom comes moral responsibility, and no society can accept crime, vice and disorder in the name of freedom and personal liberty. We feel that allowing and promoting same-sex marriages will create a great threat to the good family system in the society. It will violate the rights of men and women and harm the moral values of the society. It should be noted that in this regard, the Muslim Personal Law Board has also issued a statement opposing the legalization of same-sex marriages. All India Muslim Personal Law Board General Secretary Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani said in a statement that in a country like India where people have always been bound by religious traditions and moral values. The request presented in the Supreme Court regarding same-sex marriage is not acceptable to any religion and no civilized society can accept it. He has expressed happiness over the stand of the Center and said The All India Muslim Personal Law Board supports this position, and urges the government to criminalize homosexual acts, which is currently pending in the Supreme Court, if the board deems it necessary. So he will also try to be a party to it.
