Dutch provincial/senate elections exit poll: leftist and farmers win, blow to the government

by time news

According to an exit poll by research agency Ipsos, commissioned by NOS, the farmers’ party BBB and the left-wing Pvda/Groenlinks tandem would win 15 seats each, if the results are confirmed later.

For the Farmers’ Party it is not possible to make estimates with respect to the previous elections, why the lineup only debuted in 2019; for the joint list between Greens and Labor Groenlinks/Pvda we can speak of a victory of one seat: in the last elections for the Senate they had 8 and 6 respectively. If the result were confirmed, the two parties would reach 15.

The real blow comes instead for the government: according to the Ipsos poll, in fact, the coalition between VVD, CDA and Christen Unie would lose 8 seats, remaining at 24 out of 75, therefore far from the majority.

Wilders PVV party would go from 5 to 4; the Pvdd, the party for animals, would grow by one seat compared to 2019 while the SP, the Socialist Party would lose one and would be left with three. The new entries JA21 and Volt could earn 3 and 2 respectively, while the far-right Forum voor Democratie party would drop from 12 seats to two.
